Canon Autoboy Tele 6 Review: Captures Both 36 and 72 Photo Styles!

1. General Information About Canon Autoboy Tele 6

In the late 80s, zoom lens technology on compacts wasn't really perfect. To solve the needs of multi-purpose shooting, camera brands have created the line of "dual Lens" cameras (two fixed focal lengths). The Canon Autoboy Tele 6 was born with that philosophy in June 1988 with 2 focal lengths: 35mm and 60mm. It is also the first film camera in the world to allow users to switch between full format shooting modes full-frame and suffering half frame any time

Because the coating in the 80s was not as modern as it is now, when shooting directly with strong light sources or complex lighting conditions, photos are  susceptible to flare (light glare) or contrast reduction (slight blindness). This is quite similar to Canon Autoboy 3.

This could be an artistic plus. If you want a clear photo, you should use a sunmask (if can be made) or use your hand to lightly cover the top of the lens. And if you don't like this flare phenomenon, you should consider using later productions of Autoboy like Autoboy EPO, or change to another brand like Nikon L35ad3, l35af good Fuji Tiara Mini

The lever to switch Half-frame/Full Frame mode is located right in the back cover (yellow lever). At first, I was quite afraid to brush for fear of breaking it - because it looks a bit fragile, but you just be bold. When shooting Half-frame, you double the number of photos, very economical in an age of increasing film prices.

• The 60mm focal length is not as sharp as the 35mm focal length
• Coat against flare/ghost isn't very good (this might be an advantage if you like these effects).

If you:

• Prefer a film PS camera with multiple technologies (switching back between half/ full frame).
• Don't like 1-focal lens but also afraid of the zoom lens breaking the cable.
• Accept that the computer cannot turn the flash off.
• There is no need for the machine to be compact.
• The picture is just sharp enough, but it must always be sharp.
